(Lepidium sativum) Also called Garden Cress or Peppergrass. Garden cress is added to soups, sandwiches and salads for its tangy flavor. It is also eaten as sprouts. Sprouts can be ready in about 6 to 8 days. Curled Cress provides many necessary vitamins and minerals including iron, iodine, phosphorus and sulfur. In England, cut cress shoots are used in a traditional sandwich consisting of boiled eggs, mayonnaise and salt.
